After a very remarkable collaboration featuring prints by the American artist Jean-Michel Basquiat, the Japanese label Comme des Garçons Shirt is this time interested in the genesis of street art in the U.S.A. by getting closer to Futura for a collection rich in patterns.
Futura 2000, is one of the pioneers of world street art. In the 70’s it is one of the first to launch out in urban painting, its preferred medium? The subway cars of Brooklyn (New York). A few decades later, the Leonard McGurr of his real name became an emblematic figure in his field and even exported himself by collaborating with the biggest brands, among them NIKE, Converse, Casio, BAPE or Supreme.
Within the framework of its FW20 collection, the Japanese label CdG Shirt has also called upon the talent of the graffiti artist to imagine a capsule collection that is both colorful and fascinating at the same time. Structured around 12 pieces, this collaboration highlights Futura’s artistic signature. Each piece is covered with motifs inspired by the New York artist’s graffiti. We also find the iconic Pointman character so much loved by Futura.
