Freshly arrived from the Big Apple, Awake NY is coming to our shops for the second season to present us their fall-winter collection. If the brand doesn’t mean much to you yet, chances are that the mark its creator has already left on the streetwear movement has already had a big impact on you. A true New Yorker, Angelo Baque has already had a rich and inspiring career. Today we reveal a little more about this brand which is likely to be one of the most important in the world in the years to come.

Angelo Baque grew up in Brooklyn. A graduate of the School of Visual Arts, Baque has a keen interest in art and design, and has worked with some of the world’s biggest names in design, including Nike and Stüssy. A major turning point in his career, he joined SUPREME in 2006 as creative director for almost 10 years. Under his direction, the brand became one of the most influential labels in the history of the street and skate scene.
Founded in 2012, he now focuses on his brand, Awake NY, inspired by his personal journey and the effervescence of his hometown. With his past experience, he uses all his skills to ensure its development. The dazzling success of the project will allow him to quickly distribute it in shops around the world, but also to develop his mentoring programs to help young talents.
Known for its commitment to diversity and inclusion, Baque works in partnership with non-profit organisations to promote diversity, particularly in the fashion industry.
FOCUS AWAKE NY FALL WINTER 2022
With its very eclectic profile, Angelo’s collection is no less inspired. Mixing streetwear with more classic and formal pieces, he will highlight original and floral-inspired patterns, colourful prints, play on materials and textures, which will surely speak to the most discerning among you who are looking to punctuate their outfit with a little touch of fantasy.
The Corazon Varsity Jacket is undoubtedly a key piece in the Autumn/Winter 2022 collection. Made in Korea and finished with great refinement, it has a wool felt bust, lambskin leather sleeves, and a panoply of stitched patches including the magnificent lion’s head. A real collector’s item.
Also of note is the superb drop of Harris Tweed caps, made in the USA. Available in a variety of coloured tartans, they feature a front trim and a leather strap.
But the collection is also placed under the sign of art brut, through the collaboration with the Swiss artist Stefan Meier. His very colourful universe and his drawings typical of art brut quickly led him to collaborate with the fashion world. His rise to fame is due, among other things, to his partnership with the series Stranger Things on Netflix, in which some of his creations (custom jeans) were exhibited, and a collaboration with the designer Simon Porte Jacquemus.
