After Comme des Garçons and Jean-Michel Basquiat, it’s the turn of the Californian brand Vans to rub shoulders with the art world through a capsule collection in partnership with the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. Mixing the classic Vans models with the mythical works of the Dutch painter, this collaboration offers us a series of unique pieces testifying to the aesthetics of Vincent Van Gogh.
The iconic models of Vans
The Classic Slip On, the Sk8-Hi, the Authentic as well as t-shirts and caps will be decorated with the paintings of the impressionist master. A promising mix between the Vans models known to all and this unique brush stroke.
The Skull
At the beginning of his career, Van Gogh was interested in color theory through a series of paintings representing skeletons capturing light and shadow in an irreverent manner. This series will adorn a beautiful Slip On.
Almond tree in bloom
Colorful and peaceful, this painting symbolizes the artist’s quest for serenity. To enhance this painting, Vans designers printed these patterns on a satin fabric, bringing the flowers to life through the reflections of the satin. The beautiful cap Amandier en Fleurs is a testament to this.
The Sunflowers
This is one of his most famous paintings, Van Gogh’s Sunflowers are masterpieces. Five paintings representing sunflowers in a vase made with three shades of yellow. These paintings have been cut to cover each part of a pair of Authentic.
Vans is not at its first attempt to collaborate with artists, after Andres Serrano, A Tribe Called Quest, Ice-T or Tyler The Creator, this collaboration with the works of Vincent Van Gogh is certainly one of the most successful, mixing perfectly the models of Vans.
