A.P.C. X JW ANDERSON presents us Manteau colin Kaki.
The series of joint creations by JW Anderson and A.P.C. draws its essence from Joseph Beuys' performance piece titled "I Love America and America Loves Me." In 1974, this German artist undertook a very particular journey from Düsseldorf to New York, isolating himself in an ambulance and wrapping himself in a felt blanket to stay disconnected from the outside world. He then spent three days in the René Block Gallery, sharing the space with a coyote. The performance aimed to reconcile Western man, particularly the American, with a lost spirituality, notably Native American.
In this collection, Beuys' art is reinterpreted rather than copied literally. For example, the slightly rough texture of the duffle coat's wool subtly alludes to the felt used by Beuys. Other elements, such as the ambulance and the gallery's address (409 West Broadway), appear as graphic motifs on various items in the collection. The collection also serves as a reflection of Jonathan Anderson's personal tastes, offering what he would consider an ideal wardrobe. Overall, the collaboration innovatively revisits traditional elements of major clothing typologies.
The Manteau Colin is an emblematic piece from the APC x JW Anderson collaboration. Crafted from a blend of 70% wool and 30% polyamide, this coat reinvents the historic duffle coat, focusing on details that make it both timeless and modern. Its slightly rough wool subtly recalls the felt of the blanket in which German artist Joseph Beuys was wrapped, adding an artistic dimension to this fashion piece.
The somewhat loose fit ensures optimal comfort, while grosgrain reinforcement on the inside of the hood adds extra durability. The hood fastens with a press stud, and the Brandenburg fastening system even includes an integrated whistle—a nod to the utilitarian details that distinguish this collection. The cuffs feature faux horn buttons, and a signature label inside adds a final touch of quality.
In summary, the Manteau Colin combines aesthetics, functionality, and artistic references, while remaining true to the classic codes of men's wardrobes.
The model also wears a Polar Skateboards jeans and Converse sneakers.
