CONVERSE X OFF WHITE

Converse x off white

In 2017 and 2018, Off White and Converse developed two collaborations for the "The Ten" collection created by Virgil Abloh for Nike. These two sneakers were built on High Chuck Taylor bases and are now Sold-Out everywhere. A short while ago, we were talking about Converse and all the collaborations made in recent years.

On resell sites like StockX, the price of these two pairs Converse X Off White rise up to several thousand euros depending on the size and model.

Founded by Virgil Abloh in 2012, Off-White is a luxury streetwear brand based in Milan. The brand's DNA is very recognizable with large markings such as crosses, arrows or greasy stripes. In recent years, Off White has become one of the most emblematic brands in the world of fashion and high-end streetwear. It even achieved the ultimate distinction as the most hype brand in the world in 2018. Its creator Virgil Abloh has been appointed male artistic director for the French haute couture house Louis Vuitton.

The collaboration "The Ten" with the sports house NIKE has positioned the brand as a precursor and avant-garde as the models proposed are so unstructured and revolutionary. In a sneaker world where historical models work better in terms of sales, the models brought by Mr. Abloh have pushed the boundaries of creativity. The chosen bases were totally deconstructed to rebuild them in a destructured and asymmetric way, creating the Virgil Abloh style.

The first Converse x Off White collaboration was released on November 1, 2017 and is part of the "The 10" collection. The creator has totally revisited the Chuck Taylor. He replaced the traditional canvas stem with a reconstituted translucent stem. The material used is slightly transparent and semi-revealing to be included in the direction taken by the collection. This pair comes in a white colour with a translucent icy blue sole with Off White details to identify them among many others.

For their second collaboration, Off White and Converse were even more daring while following Virgil Abloh's deconstructed and minimalist aesthetic. This time, the game is played through a mix of color: white, black and orange... and patterns familiar to Mr. Abloh's brand. Off White's distinctive diagonal stripes have been added to the footing with a bright orange bottom of the footing in a construction safety colour. There are of course the labelled laces and the silkscreen printing of the bold typography on the sole. Despite all these changes, Abloh still wanted to keep the vintage Converse canvas construction and the "All Star" Patch, the brand's historical symbol.

This basketball was also sold out as soon as it was released and is resold at a golden price on sneaker resale platforms.

If you missed them, you'll have to break the piggy bank!
