Kway AMI, 100% Frenchy

Alexandre Mattiussi, famous designer of the Ami Paris brand, launched his brand after working for Christian Dior, Givenchy or Marc Jacobs. He wanted to make pieces that mixed casual and chic with a certain sophistication and urban spirit. The French label is now located in all four corners of the globe with three flagship stores in Paris, London, Hong Kong and Tokyo. The label has conquered different cultures through its different collections that you can find on our article Alexandre Mattiussi and his AMI collaborations. Indeed, before this collaboration with K-way, he has already made several other collabs with designers and leading labels of the fashion world: Moncler, Eastpak and Smiley.

Tout comme bonne marque de mode qui se respecte, AMI doit renouveler régulièrement son offre et ses collections, au travers de notre article Seasons and Collections Ami Paris nous vous présentons le travail d'Alexandre Mattiussi sur quelques capsules.

The History of K-Way :

This famous waterproof garment that fits into a fanny pack was created in 1965 by Léon-Claude Duhamel. With the arrival of nylon, Léon-Claude wanted to revolutionize rainwear for children in order to get rid of their heavy rainwear while being able to fold this garment into a pocket. His "En-K" will quickly become the "K-way" that we know in order to open an international dimension to the clothing.

It is in the 80s that the garment reaches its peak. Indeed, at the time, the label will collaborate with the French alpine ski team, which will propel K-way and its fanny pack as the essential sportswear accessory.

But the label will gradually lose steam until 2004 when it is bought by BasicNet who will redesign the model to add a more "fashion" tone. With its new nylon, much more breathable, the label has nothing to envy today because it mixes technicality, practicality and fashion in a windbreaker always more sophisticated.

We are now going to talk about one of the latest collaborations of K-Way with Ami PARIS, a trendy brand for the city.

The K-way X AMI Paris collaboration.

After Knitted Sweater, Ami tee shirts and pants, the big-hearted brand collaborates with K-way to face all weather conditions with style and confidence. This 100% French capsule collection features a range of three trendy garments in a variety of colors. For the Autumn-Winter 2018 season, there's nothing like tackling cold weather in style. Three models are available:

  • The Claude AMI jacket
  • The Eiffel AM jacket
  • The Richard AMI Parka.

The Claude and Eiffel models are garments with an iconic shape of the brand, which are stored in their bag, available in two colors, red and blue.

These iconic products have been revisited to bring Alexandre's urban signature, bringing a breath of fresh air to the pieces, while keeping for the collection, the famous multicolored zipper strip of K-Way. We find on the chest of the clothes, the two logos side by side.

Collaborating with K-way is a form of evidence for Alexandre Mattiussi because he has an emotional connection and nostalgia with these windbreakers.

You can find the Gap collection through our article Ami, Alexandre Mattiussi GAP Collaboration. The two French labels have produced an exclusive capsule of six products featuring three models in different technical materials and in two colors, red or blue and monochrome or decorated with stripes.

To conclude:

The Fall Winter 2018 season has been rather eventful with a more than successful range of capsule collections! Even though the brands' base is rather distant, they totally respect the same values and artistic inspirations. The capsule products are universal thanks to the colors used and the subtle patterns.

We find a very modern aspect with the visual of the Eiffel model, its three-quarter cut and its "ribbing" at the wrists. The products in this capsule perfectly represent the balance between utilitarian outfit ideal for the city, classy and urban. We find the signature K-way era with the multicolored zipper that brings a differentiating aspect. The side by side logos on the chest represent a very successful branding.
